The Witch of Wall Street - Henrietta & Hetty & green

Over the past couple of years people became more cautious about spending. For good reasons - job loss, sinking portfolios, equities negative House and the list continues. Frugality is in French - bigtime! Suddenly, we Americans have become :) frugal. We started to take extreme measures to reduce our regular expenses.
But do you know who was the first Queen of frugality?

His name is Henrietta "Hetty" green. She lived from 1834-1916. Without doubt, she is a Champion of the frugality of all time.

Hetty was a nifty American businesswoman with a very conservative investment philosophy. Because of his influence on Wall Street and due to her dark dress probably it was also infamous nicknamed the "Witch of Wall Street". It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest of the Avars. Provision of Hetty was so terrible that she had no friends and people avoided him.

Here are some of his famous frugal or should we say infamous greedy acts:
Never turned on heatNever opportunity waterNever hot changed her clothes and underwear until they were worn outMostly ate 15 cents piesAte oatmeal heated on a radiator in his officeTraveled of thousands of miles alone (!) to collect a few hundred dollarsRode an old sad carriageThe of all: when son Ned broke a leg, she took him to the District of charity hospital for free treatment. But hospital officials soon acknowledged and decided that she was not eligible for treatment in their neighbourhood of charity. In order to avoid the cost of treatment of his son it has home. Without proper medical care, poor Ned contracted gangrene and his leg had to be amputated!Of course, the next question is: how much money she raised in her life?
At the time of his death in 1916, the net value of Henrietta "Hetty" Green was a huge $2 to $4 billion in today's dollars.

Despite all the money that Henrietta "Hetty" Green piled up in his life, his son lost his leg due to his stingy Act. We were wondering if its act to make savings by not having does not his son treated at the hospital really worth it? There is no doubt that it was rich in terms of money, but it was rich in compassion? Have a peaceful life? She was always happy?

For us, happiness, peace and contentment are far more important than to raise a huge amount of money in our lives. It would pay to check constantly whether we commit mistakes similar to the Witch of Wall Street? Hope not!

What is your opinion on the Witch of Wall Street? Do you like the way she has lived her life? We look forward to your comments :).
